What we did.

Project Overview

Following a successful collaboration on the main JNP website in early 2024, I was tasked with a complete overhaul of the JNP Aviation Training site. The existing site, originally built five or six years ago as a preliminary tool for education centre pitching, was no longer fit for purpose. The goal was to transform it into a sophisticated, student-focused education site to showcase the offerings to various students as an education provider.

1. The Challenge

The primary hurdle was the diversity of the audience. The site needed to serve everyone from secondary school students and tertiary learners to career changers looking to enter the aviation industry. The legacy site lacked the clear navigation and branding necessary to guide these distinct "customer streams" to the correct information.

2. The Solution & Process

We initiated the project with a deep dive into the user journey and sitemap architecture to ensure a logical flow.

  • Segmented User Flows: Created designated areas for different student profiles (Secondary, Tertiary, Flight, and Ground Operations).
  • Redesigned Course Pages: Rebuilt individual course pages to be information-rich and visually engaging, moving away from static text to a dynamic presentation.
  • Career Integration: Developed specialised pages for "Career Advisors" and career trajectories, helping prospective students visualise their future in the industry.
  • Brand Alignment: Refreshed the visual identity of the site to feel approachable and modern, aligning it specifically with the expectations of an educational environment.

3. Technical Implementation

Beyond the frontend design, the build focused on backend flexibility:

  • Dynamic Linking: Built a system where specific courses are linked to student testimonials and potential career paths, creating a "web" of relevant content for the user.
  • Scalability: Set up an easy-to-use CMS (Content Management System) that allows the JNP team to independently add and update course details, add new teaching locations, and manage student and company news, student stories and career pathways.

4. The Outcome

The result is a "fit-for-purpose" site that is friendly, easy to navigate, and professional. It successfully bridges the gap between complex aviation data and an accessible student experience, providing a robust foundation for JNP’s growth as a leading education provider.
