Stuff events wanted to combine Round the Bays into a 3 event series and needed a website to fit the new offering.. That’s where dollop came in.
Round the Bays is an iconic event in New Zealand, nearly everyone I've spoken to has done it at least once as a child or adult and knows all about it.
When my good friends at Virtual Marketers contacted me to say they’d got the contract to design and build their new website and if I’d be interested in the work… I almost bit their hands off.
As a lover of running as a way of exploring and entering lots of running races, in some way I was the perfect site user when it came to creating a site that showcased what the events were about but also making sure all the important and useful information for those taking part was easy to find and clearly displayed. We worked in unison, with Virtual Marketers project managing while I worked on the initial UX, sitemaps and design concepts to present back to the event team.
The site was a bit of a beast and arguably the biggest I've designed and built with over 60 pages showing 3 different events, across 3 locations each with different information that needed to be easy to update for the Stuff team when they took over the site. It’s a project I’m really proud of and ended up with a great working relationship with the client and delivered the project on time and live without too much more than the usual last minute panics.
